BIO: Nicolas Ah Sam was a four-time varsity letterman in both football and basketball. The last three years he has earned 1st team All-State honors in both sports. He was a two-time conference Player of the Year in football, and a three-time conference Player of the Year in basketball. Although Ah Sam is very proud of all of the awards and accomplishments he has achieved, his true joy is making his mother proud. He always played sports with her as his sole motivator. Sadly, his mother passed away on October 16th, 2016, in the middle of his senior season. Shocked and heart broken, Ah Sam decided to continue playing sports in her honor. He wanted to reach the goal they had always dreamed of; for him to play collegiate sports. His final high school football game ended in a tough loss, but he left it all on the field. That last game he rushed for 287 yards, on 44 carries, and completed 8/15 passes for 150 yards. He racked up a total of 433 yards on the night with four touchdowns. Nicolas has achieved his and his mother’s goal by earning himself a full ride scholarship to Portland State University where he will continue playing football. He will strive to continue making his mother and angel proud as he continues on to this next phase of life.
